Accidental Rainbow & Lightning (1 in a 1.0E6)
This photo was an extrordinary accident. Prior to this shot, I was sheltered under a rock outcrop doing the lightning position for 10 minutes as an energetic storm engulfed me while out hiking. As the storm cleared, a faint rainbow emerged and Pike's Peak became visible in the distance. I framed the shot, focused, and let the shutter fly. As soon as the shutter opened, I saw an intense flash out of my non-viewfinder eye and got a little excited. Reviewing the image revealed the lightining had been recorded, did not blow out the entire photo, and was adequatly framed within the rainbow. I can't immagine getting much luckier than that.
